Mel & Michelle is an intimate, magical Italian territory, celebrating its seventh year.
Since opening, the restaurant has gained not only critical accolades but also an ever-growing fan following.
Situated in the heart of Tel Aviv, deep in Ben Yehuda Street, the restaurant is like a foreign film backdrop – European atmosphere, a romantic spot that transfers the diner to another world. The fetching décor, filled with lovely little items, was designed by the owners. Nir and Maya Weiman, who managed to create a quiet, romantic spot in the middle of the city.
Nir Weiman, owner and talented chef of Mel & Michelle, has been working in Italian kitchens long before he opened the restaurant.
The restaurant, named after two, Kiwi friends of the owners (friends that almost convinced them to move to New Zealand to become farmers) serves pointed and precise Italian cuisine with a hint of French influences.
Nir creates a current and elegant menu that changes according to season and is influenced by the flavors, colors and aromas of Italy. For example, the Parisian gnocchi dish – golden cheese dumplings in truffle sauce – the gnocchi is a delicacy made from flour mixed with baked or cooked potatoes and parmesan cheese. The Parisian version is made from classic French dough called “pate choux”. It is cooked dough that is versatile and used in many puffs, éclairs and buns.
The rich flavors and exquisite dishes should be accompanied by the homemade liquor or one of the menu’s fine wines.
