Popina, 3 Ahad Ha’am Street, Tel Avivby Sarit Goffen | 25.12.13
For a while now I’ve been meaning to visit the restaurant Popina. It was opened by restaurateur Amir Tourgeman and chef Orel Kimchi – a promising young chef, who won 2011 the San Pellegrino’s World’s Best Chef Under 30 award. The pair moved from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv in order to open the restaurant.
From everything I’ve heard and read about Popina, it was supposed to be a modern gourmet restaurant, serving creative meals, but the day I choose to visit, show cased a completely different restaurant. It was the one-year celebration, and the restaurant featured Chef Erez Komorovsky, in a uniquely themed night: “between Tunisia and Galilee”. The restaurant, with Chef Komorovsky, created a Tunisian shindig, an exciting wintery dinner that combined the passionate, rustic flavor of Komorovsky’s Galilee, and the elegance and finesse of Kimchi. This was definitely a unique experience in the Popina kitchen.
Mazal Tov Popina! A second visit is now guaranteed.
